The Rising Popularity of Eyelid Lifts

When you think of cosmetic surgery, you probably don’t think of one of our most popular procedures. Many people don’t even know it exists! This procedure is technically called blepharoplasty, but it’s commonly referred to as an eye lift. Over the last 16 years, eye lift surgery has consistently been one of the top five cosmetic procedures in the US. At the offices of Dr. Brantner in East Tennessee, eye lifts are a popular procedure for both men and women. What does the procedure involve and what could it do for you? eyelid lift

In short, an eye lift is the only procedure that effectively addresses puffy or drooping eyelids. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is the only way to be sure that you’re a good candidate, but if aging, gravity, or environmental factors have obstructed your vision or given you the appearance of being sleepy or angry all the time, an eyelid lift may be your best choice.

Eye lifts generally work in one of two ways. If the lower lid is causing the issue, the surgeon will remove excess fat from beneath the eye. If the upper lid is causing vision problems or affecting your appearance, loose or hanging skin can be tightened or removed. Tightening the skin and muscles will give a fresh, rejuvenated look to the eyes, which makes the whole face look more youthful.

Want to know if a blepharoplasty is right for you? Schedule a consultation with Dr. Brantner. We can answer all your questions, discuss recovery time, and work together to choose the best options for your body and your desired outcome!

Get Rid of that Turkey Gobbler Before the Holidays!

Get Rid of that Turkey Gobbler Before the Holidays!

Turkey may be one of the most popular dish for Thanksgiving–88% of Americans eat it for their holiday meal–but there’s one place we definitely don’t want turkey: our necks! As people age, there’s always the chance of developing the dreaded “turkey neck.” It’s a coolder female patientmmon issue but notoriously tricky to take care of. What can you do when this happens? Fortunately, here at the offices of Jim Brantner, MD we’ve got a solution: our neck lift procedure will remove that sagging skin for good.

A neck lift involves removing excess skin and fat—and potentially restructuring the muscle underneath—to create a smoother, rejuvenated appearance and natural-looking results. While this is a major procedure and will require some prep and recovery time, it’s also one of the safest and most reliable procedures in plastic surgery. We perform this procedure in two to three hours, with minor incisions and scarring. Generally, patients won’t need general anesthesia, but the only way to determine your specific needs is to schedule a consultation at our office.

Remember, an ounce of prevention is often worth a pound of cure when it comes to aging issues. Treat your neck with the same care and consideration you do your face—wear sunscreen every day and use the same anti-aging products on your neck that you do on the rest of your skin. If you have any questions about products, don’t hesitate to ask!
