Which Juvederm Injectable Filler Is Right for You?

Which Juvederm Injectable Filler Is Right for You?

Here at the Offices of Jim Brantner, MD, we get a lot of questions about the different kinds of Juvederm injectable fillers we offer: Vollure, Volbella, and Voluma. Here’s a quick primer on the differences between these three injectables, and what they can do for you!

woman applying moisturizerFirst, the similarities: all three products are made from molecules of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps keeps skin plump and looking youthful. Each product is made by converting this sugar into a gel that can be used to achieve specific goals. All three injectables are minimally invasive and include a numbing agent to minimize discomfort. What are the differences?

  • Volbella is the thinnest gel, and the most spreadable. It’s best for fine areas around eyes and lips. Volbella is also used to smooth scarring leftover from facial acne.
  • Voluma is the thickest, strongest, and longest lasting gel. It’s best for deeper injections around the cheeks. It’s been likened to a “liquid facelift.”
  • Vollure is a nice middle ground of the other two – it has flexibility and staying power. It’s especially great for the area around the nose because it allows freedom of movement and expression but still has staying power.

But which filler is best for you? Only a consultation with Dr. Brantner can answer that. Together you’ll go over your goals, address any concerns and questions you may have and decide on the best course of action to achieve your goals! Contact us today to set up an appointment.

May Special: 15% Off Botox and Juvederm!

May Special: 15% Off Botox and Juvederm!

Dr. Brantner has a new special for the month of May–15% off botox, juvederm voluma, and juvederm smiling womanvolbella! These non-surgical procedures may be similar, but they provide patients with different results. Let’s take a look at what these injections do!

Botox, perhaps the most well-known of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, is primarily used to improve the appearance of frown lines. This procedure is designed to help smooth out wrinkles between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and forehead wrinkles. An injection usually lasts about three months, but after regular injections, results begin to last longer. Botox is also FDA approved to treat migraine headaches.

Juvederm is primarily used to treat smile lines, which look like parenthesis that open around the mouth. It is also used to fill in scars and hollow places in the face. Juvederm voluma is used to add volume and lift cheeks, while Juvederm volbella is used to plump, smooth, and augment the lips, to correct smoker’s lines, and to fill in scars and hollow places in the face, including acne scars. These treatments usually last about a year.

At Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, patients can be sure they’re getting the best quality cosmetic surgery and non-surgical procedures in East Tennessee. We take patient care very seriously. Rejuvenate the Skin with Juvederm

Rejuvenate the Skin with Juvederm

The holidays have a way of shedding light on the aspects of our lives we’d like to change. For many of us that means rethinking our priorities, finding more time for the people we love, and attempting to come to terms with what we dislike about our physical appearance. If you’re lacking self-confidence this holiday season, there’s no need to put on a brave face. Juvederm is a non-surgical procedure that subtly smooths and lifts sagging skin, giving you a youthful glow (and a brighter smile) just in time for holiday photos.

What is Juvederm?

Juvaderm is an injectable filler that adds volume to the skin, temporarily minimizing the effects of age. The gel is injected around the mouth to treat moderate to servere lines around the nose, chin, and cheeks. Juvederm is approved for use in patients over 21 years of age. The anti-aging effects generally last around one year.

Candidates for Juvederm Injections

Juvederm injections take less than 30 minutes and require minimal recovery. Temporary side effects may include tenderness, itching, bruising, swelling, bumps, or discoloration around the injection site. Most side effects are mild and should last no longer than 7 days. Juvederm might be right for you if:

  • You have deep lines around the nose, mouth, and chin
  • You want a longer lasting but ultimately temporary solution to facial aging
  • You have discussed your desired aesthetic with Dr. Brantner
  • You have given Dr. Brantner a complete list of your current medications and known allergies
  • You have several weeks available before any holiday functions to schedule your cosmetic procedure
