Lip Fillers

If you want to bring new life to your smile, lip fillers give you plump, youthful lips. Lip injection is a common procedure across age groups to get natural-looking, fuller features. In a few short months, you can toss out your lip liners for a more permanent solution.

The office of Jim Brantner, M.D., is here for your cosmetic surgery needs. Dr. Jim Brantner has experience conducting lip filler procedures for a gentle and natural result. Contact the office today to find out if lip fillers are right for you.

What are Lip Fillers?

This procedure uses injectable dermal fillers to augment your lips. You may seek lip fillers if:

  • Your lips seem to disappear when you smile.
  • Your lips are thinning or starting to sag.
  • You feel as though your lips do not match your other features.

Lip fillers add volume, structure, and shape to your mouth. The results are temporary, lasting some months to a year. At the end of this period, you will want to get more fillers.

A more permanent lip augmentation solution would be lip implants. The implant procedure is more expensive and time-consuming. Our team can advise you on the best route to reach your cosmetic goals.

    Lip Filler Procedure

Many different procedures for lip filling are available. Today, the most common procedures use natural or synthetic substances that mimic hyaluronic acid. Other methods include using collagen or fat injections to give lips more volume.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your body. This type of filler looks authentic and dissolves over time. The benefits of getting injections with hyaluronic acid are:

    • Controlling the volume of your lips
    • Less swelling and bruising than other lip fillers
    • Lower likelihood of an allergic reaction

Your surgeon will mark the areas on your lips where the lip filler injection will go. Then, he’ll use thin needles to inject filler in those places. Afterward, you may get ice to control the swelling.

Lip fillers are not as invasive as other options. The process includes injecting the fillers into your lips over several months. The gradual approach gently adds structure and volume.

    Lip Filler FAQS

    What is the Recovery Process?

The procedure itself is quick and has minimal recovery time. You can often resume your daily activities in a few days.

Your lips may feel fuller than you anticipated right after the procedure. However, you will see your new, shapely lips once the swelling goes down. It is best to avoid using lip products directly after your lip filling.

How Long Do Lip Fillers Last?

Your fillers’ duration depends on the substance, your metabolism, and how plump you want your lips to be. Your fillers can last between six months to even a few years. Dr. Brantner will tell you what you can expect during your consultation.

    What Types of Fillers Exist?

The different types of hyaluronic acid fillers include:

    • BELOTERO BALANCE
    • Elevess
    • Volbella
    • Prevelle Silk
    • JUVEDERM
    • Restylane

Many of these fillers are options for all sorts of dermal filler procedures. The difference exists in the way these appear in your lips. For example, Volbella and JUVEDERM are thinner, and they work best for superficial use.

Other options can better reshape your lips if necessary. Your surgeon will advise you on the best filler for your needs and current lip structure.

    Does it Hurt?

Many filler products come with the numbing agent lidocaine mixed in. You may also get a numbing cream or a nerve block injection to make you more comfortable. Either way, you should not feel anything more than slight discomfort during the procedure.

Sometimes, you can also ice your lips before injection to help numb the area. Dr. Brantner will inform you of the entire process before your appointment.

Afterward, you may have some swelling until your lips fully heal.

    How Much Does It Cost?

Lip fillers are an elective procedure, so your insurance provider may not cover it. However, you have many options for payment with our office. We have a financing plan available so that you can space out payments via CareCredit.

We also accept checks, cash, Mastercard, and Visa. Call today to find out about your payment options.
